Cause I got my own domain and a friend hosting, I can't not have my own blog. So I can't do this Vox thing anymore. I hope all you Voxers (and LJers if there are any of you) follow me still. I'll definitely keep reading the Vox blogs. So anyway, the main page is generoseberry.com which is pretty boring right now, but links to the blog and also to this D&D wiki we're using for the campaign I'm in currently if you wanna look at it.
Ok. So I've not done much blogging lately. Not really sure why, guess I've just been distracted with other stuff. Quick run down of the goings ons.
1. Years over. I probably got a 4.0 this quarter, or something close to it.
2. I'm back in Kennewick for the summer. I have an internship starting Monday that's going to make my summer a lot like school, only worse, however. I get paid, though. About .48 cents per second, so I guess I gotta look at the bright side.
3. My grandma died.
Guess that's the major events in my life. Sharese is moving back to town on the 16th... which is exciting. Potentially, anyway. She might decide not to associate with me and mine, in which case it's pretty boring. Linda, girl from middle school, joined the military and is going to basic in a few days apparently. So... that's big for her. *shrug* Pat's missing, but he took some big actuary test on Tuesday. Haven't heard anything since, so maybe it killed him. Ody and Keston and Mike and all those kids graduated. Ody has an internship job thing. Donny walks today. Or walked. I dunno.
D&D starts Tuesday. 3.5 Eberron stuff. Hopefully my 4.0 books get here soon and I can start working on running a 4.0 campaign.
I could have tried to chat with Katie Engbretson on Facebook but I didn't.
(I also finished the last homework assignments I have this year, excluding final test and final papers... but don't let this added detail detract from the intended vagueness = meaningful vibe I was going for on this)
My last post makes me seem somewhat unappreciative of my Memorial Day Weekend. I did that on purpose kinda, cause I think it's funny. But I'll give more details now and I'd like to make it clear that I do appreciate my Kennewickian friends that entertain me when I'm home... and don't leave me.
So uh... yeah. Gar made spaghetti, which I ate a bunch of. And then there was talking and playing with the cat. And then we watched like 1/3 of a crappy movie. And then I went to Aaron's and watched like 1/3 of a movie I've already seen, but I also looked at some D&D books and kinda got me jazzed up for possible summer play. Eventually, Kim woke up and took me to her place to kill time until we went back to Gar's for more gathering. After everyone was off work we went to a park to enjoy the outdoors... or something. I didn't quite get that part. And then there was barbecue. And then there was about 1/3 of a game of zombies before people got distracted and left. And then I went home.
I got a summer internship. I get to write javascript to make 3D models do cool things. So... that's cool.
Also, the power went out on campus today. At like 7:40. I was in the lab working on the group project with most of the group and everything went lifeless. A CS building with no power is a sad thing. Some of us went for a walk after we realized the magic juice wasn't coming back right away. It was pretty nuts. Everyone was hanging outside cause the weather was nice. Had to eat Taco Bell cause the cafeteria closed down.
Tomorrow I register for next quarter's classes, and I have to find out about getting credit for this internship, and I have to fill out the employment paperwork... and I have a group project midway done presentation... sigh.
I pre-ordered D&D 4.0. It's released the day of my final final. It's fate. Now I have a job so it totally justifies the expense.
I received my second unsolicited, totally self inspired, compliment on my facial hair from a female peer today. The first one was Mikaela and I suspect she's physiologically compelled to please me, so I dunno if that counts, but I did give her an out and she didn't take it, and I didn't ask what she thought or anything. And this new person could easily have said nothing since I wasn't even talking to her but she volunteered her positive feelings on my facial fiasco.
Reminder of what we're dealing with.
So... I'm bored so I'll just write update crap.
My big scary website that was due Friday got bumped to tomorrow, but I've already finished it now. I say finished when I mean I'm not going to work on it anymore. The assignment is so vague who knows. I think it's cool, and in the end that's all that really matters.
For that same professor next week I have due a paper prototype, a persona (which I did yesterday), an app that works as a semi functional java IDE, and a storyboard for my user interface. The paper prototype and the storyboard make me cry inside. I have to hand draw on mashed up trees what my app will look like, and for the prototype, it has to be set up so a user could point to buttons and stuff and write in what they want and have an interactive experience w/ the paper. So if they hit next I hand them the next "screen" and if they check a box I have to mark it w/ a little sticky note or something. I'm sure design people think this stuff is a great idea, but welcome to the CS department, where we're all coders and couldn't care less.
Anyway, I have an RA who's into scrap booking and so she's kindly agreed to provide me with a lot of the materials I'll need, since I dun even have a pen, let alone opaque multi-apply tape strips.
Despite all this homework most of it doesn't make sense to do now. I finished all the stuff I can. Hence blogging. The internet is slow on weekends.
Played Rock Band yesterday. Lauren's new boyfriend has a pretty nice set up. Projector and stuff. Anyway, the game is fun. I only played guitar, but it seems to have a slightly different feel from guitar hero, plus the songs are new and different. The group playing focus is really what makes it more fun, and the 4 players thing. Dig it. I'd prolly like the drums too, dunno about singing.
I'm wearing a shirt that seems to be kinda smaller than I'm used to. Dunno where I got it. Maybe Pat got it for me, which seems kinda weird, but is the most plausible theory I can think of.
Speaking of Pat, he's the reason I dun play WoW all the time. Kinda decided playing w/o Pat isn't any fun, which is basically true, so I have to wait for him to play like 72 hours of poker before he decides WoW is fun again. We're level 32 despite his moderation.
Expelled came out. If you don't already know, it's a big anti-evolution propaganda piece. I haven't seen it, but my skeptical leanings have put me in a position to hear lots of reviews and stuff. Basically, everything in it is highly misleading. They lied about what movie they were making when they interviewed the "Darwinists" in the show, and of course did the editing tricks. Anyway, I bring it up because it was a advertised on NPR. Which is kinda horrible. Now I feel justified in never giving them any money.
I want to start making a podcast w/ my buds + a girl. A girl would be helpful. I can't decide if it should be a girl that's basically one of the guys, or like, the opposite. I dunno how I'd convince an opposite to do a podcast w/ me, but it would be interesting to hear what nonsense she thought.
I have a couple ideas for format. I think just us talking is kinda the point of the show, but we have to keep topics moving and sorta interesting. So I think each of us picks stories from the news over the past week and then we create a master page and all look at them if we want. So then as the show goes each person gets a turn to bring up their stories. And then we can talk about them or not, depending. I imagines something like this.
Pat: Ford announces the new mustang will be sold as a hybrid.
Aaron: Don't care!
Gene: Don't care!
Girl: Don't care!
Gene: Scientists discover snake fossil with vestigial legs.
Pat: Don't care!
Girl: Don't care!
Aaron: Don't care!
Gene: Fair enough, just want to say that this is cool and suck it creationists.
Girl: New Fall Fashions are out.
Gene: I'll kill you.
Pat: I'm really digging the pastel floral pattern trends.
Aaron: and the comeback of [article of clothing I didn't know existed/had a name] is really interesting.
Gene: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGG!
Ok, so maybe that last one is a bit unlikely. Hopefully.
